After download, verify its SHA-256 and run version --json before use. Unsigned and unnotarized: macOS may block it. No Desktop DMG, package-manager installer, or automatic installation is offered here.

Use two separate directories

CLI_SOURCE_DIR is the absolute path of the organizer-approved Gobb source checkout. Run only build, version, and install commands there.

WORK_REPOSITORY is the absolute path of your existing, organizer-assisted prepared and already initialized Gobb repository. Run context and working-repository commands there.

Before you begin

  • Organizer-approved source checkout
  • Go 1.26 or newer
  • Git
  • make

Secure Hub details

The organizer supplies HUB_ORIGIN, ORG_ID, PROJECT_ID, and a short-lived GOBB_HUB_TOKEN through a secure channel. Set the token locally outside this tutorial. Never paste it into AI, chat, screenshots, or documentation.

01

Build from the approved checkout

Run the repository build from its root.

Command
cd "$CLI_SOURCE_DIR"
make build

Observable result: The build completes and produces bin/gobb.

02

Verify the source-built CLI

Read the binary version before using it.

Command
cd "$CLI_SOURCE_DIR"
./bin/gobb version

Observable result: The CLI prints its version instead of a shell or missing-file error.

03

Optionally install for local PATH use

Run make install-local in CLI_SOURCE_DIR; it places the binary at $HOME/.local/bin/gobb, then the shown export adds that directory to the current shell’s PATH.

Command
cd "$CLI_SOURCE_DIR"
make install-local
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
gobb version

Observable result: gobb version resolves to the installed local binary.

04

Confirm current Project access

Replace the uppercase metavariables with organizer-supplied values.

Command
cd "$WORK_REPOSITORY"
gobb hub project --hub-origin HUB_ORIGIN --organization ORG_ID --project PROJECT_ID

Observable result: The CLI reports current Project access or a specific actionable failure.

05

Bind only an existing eligible checkout

This does not clone. Use it only when every eligibility condition in the usage guide is already satisfied.

Command
cd "$WORK_REPOSITORY"
gobb hub workspace bind --hub-origin HUB_ORIGIN --organization ORG_ID --project PROJECT_ID

Observable result: The exact existing workspace association is recorded without cloning.

06

Refresh the workspace state

Recheck current access and binding after the operation.

Command
cd "$WORK_REPOSITORY"
gobb hub workspace status --refresh

Observable result: The CLI reports the refreshed workspace/access state.
